Details:

Our Meals on Wheels service provides fresh, nourishing meals delivered straight to your door! We deliver meals across Croom, Granagh, Ballingarry, Adare, Patrickswell and surrounding areas every Tuesday and Thursday. There is no limit to the number of meals you can order. All meals are freshly prepared on the morning of delivery. Meals for the same day arrive hot and ready to enjoy, while meals for the following day are blast chilled for freshness. Every meal is provided in a microwavable container for your convenience and are delivered by local Garda-vetted volunteers! It is €7 per meal and this comes with a delicious dessert to enjoy.

How you can refer for the service:

You can self-refer to our Meals on Wheels service at any time! There is no need for a doctor’s note or any formal referral. Simply get in touch with us on 061 602 878 and our team will be happy to register you in a timely manner. We at Croom Family Resource Centre are committed to providing support to anyone who needs it and while we aim to prioritise the vulnerable within our community, we do not have any specific criteria one must meet in order to be able to refer. If you or someone you know could benefit from Meals on Wheels, contact us today!

Sample meals:

We provide hearty, nutritious dinners which are freshly prepared on the morning of deliveries. Our menu is designed to be nourishing, comforting and packed full of flavour. Some sample meals include some favourties; Bacon and Cabbage, Irish Stew, Cottage Pie and Salmon Darne served with Mashed Potato and Steamed Irish Vegetables. These are simple nourishing meals designed to replicate home cooking, which can make all the difference!

Volunteering at Croom FRC:

We are continuously looking for people to volunteer with our Meals on Wheels service. Whether you can contribute two days a week or just one day a month, every bit of help makes a difference!

How you can volunteer:

If you wish to volunteer with us, please contact Ciara on 061 602 878/ciara@croomfrc.com or pop into reception and we can organise an appointment to get the registration process started!

This process includes completing our Volunteer Application form, Garda Vetting form and the completion of the ‘Safeguarding Adults at Risk of Abuse’ training on HSEland. We are more than happy to provide a laptop or quiet space to complete this online training if needed. On completion of the Volunteer Application form, you will have the opportunity to outline your availability.

If you are willing to drive as part of your role, volunteers must request a letter of indemnity for the use of their car as this protects both yourself and the organisation. Once each of these are completed and we have received Garda clearance, volunteers may commence their role as a Meals on Wheels Volunteer.

Your roles as a MOW volunteer:

  • Meet our Meals on Wheels Administrator at Croom Family Resource Centre
  • Collect the insulated bags with the meals and desserts inside them
  • Deliver the meals to one of our five current routes: Croom Village, Ballingarry, Granagh, Adare and Patrickswell
  • Bring back the bags and route sheets to our Meals on Wheels Administrator at Croom Family Resource Centre once the meals have been delivered

If you are interested in volunteering with us in Croom FRC, please fill out the application form below and contact Ciara on 061 602 878!
